Paint Studio
Denver Art Museum
Denver Art Museum
In this Studio concept, visitors had the opportunity to create and experiment with process and tools used by painters. This Studio concept invited visitors to be inspired by the museum’s collections and various special exhibitions and to expand their understanding and definition of paint and how artists manipulate this medium.
Visitors were able to:
Test traditional painting tools like brushes and palette knives.
Explore unexpected implements such as potato mashers and loofahs.
Create an entirely new brushstroke by constructing a painting tool out of everyday objects.
Play with watercolors, try layering techniques, and test viscosity of paints using paint spinners.
Get inspired by paintings in the museum and use water-soluble oil pastels, water, and paintbrushes to recreate them.
